WELCOME TO THE INFORMATION PLATFORM ON

GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE (GBV)

DURING THE KHMER ROUGE REGIME

This website offers a unique collection of materials on gender-based violence during the Khmer Rouge and a description of the on-going transitional justice measures which address this issue in Cambodia today.

Since 2011, the Victims Support Section (VSS) of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), in partnership with Cambodian Defenders Project (CDP) and Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) are jointly implementing the project “Women and Transitional Justice in Cambodia”. The aim of the project is to ensure the engagement of female survivors in the transitional justice process addressing gross human rights violations and mass crimes committed under the Khmer Rouge between April 1975 and January 1979. Women, in particular GBV survivors, are encouraged to fully exercise their rights to truth, justice and reparations, which are inherent in transitional justice.

With this information platform we intend to share the knowledge, experience and products gathered through our work to encourage Cambodians and people from all over the world to learn, discuss and take action against GBV.
